a few friends did it for me once and it looked amazing, but when I tried it at home it flopped, it was frizzed out, oddly shaped and wasnt really anything but knots, anyone got tips?
How can I back-comb my hair so It doesnt look like I have a bird's nest on my head?
use a smoothing gel or spray and then when you do back comb it tidy up the top so it looks super smooth.

use a gel or pomade to keep it slick or a spray gel so it dries without looking crispy or wet
